The Faux Paint Disaster!
(why I learned to veneer instead)

Folks, this was truly UGLY!

I wanted to simulate walnut burl using a faux finishing technique I read about, but it didn't look anything like it. Part way through the painting session I switched to a sea sponge to make it look like granite or marble. Still didn't work!

About half-hour into the painting session I saw the handwriting on the wall, and attempted to wash away as much latex paint as I could. Panic had set in.

A brutal sanding session with #60 grit sandpaper followed this disaster to restore the enclosures back to bare MDF for an eventual  veneering.

This botched faux paint job is why I learned to veneer! Necessity created the opportunity and motivation to overcome this nightmare.
