Colors located on opposite sides of the wheel are called complementary colors. Increasing the amount of one color automatically decreases the amount of its complementary color. For example, photographs made in fluorescent light are green and decreasing the green increases the magenta in the photo. The increased magenta reduces the greenish color cast.
