Here's the mount assembly before painting.

The mounting assembly was fashioned from angle-iron cut from an old bed frame and attached to a U-bracket from some long-forgotten thing. The slot in the U-bracket gives easy access to the screws that attach it to the house.

(Yes, I'm a packrat to have such otherwise useless parts laying around! )
