Printing to the Epson 4000 from InDesign CS
Choose the Correct Printer:
Go to Print Center (usually on the Docker Bar for VisCom labs). Make VisCom_RIP the default printer.
File Preparation before Placing in InDesign:
In Photoshop, convert RGB pictures to CMYK using the U.S. Sheetfed Coated v2 CMYK space. Save using a different name, (i.e., myfile_CMYK.tif).
(Alternate approach - use InDesign's Edit>Convert to Profile to convert already-placed pictures to the U.S. Sheetfed Coated v.2 CMYK space. This will convert existing pictures to U.S. Sheetfed Coated v2 without having to open Photoshop and resave converted files.)
Enable InDesign's Color Management:
Start InDesign CS.
Turn on Color management in InDesign (Edit>Color Settings then click the Enable Color Management button). Change the CMYK working space to U.S. Sheetfed Coated v2 after color management is enabled.
Place CMYK pictures (having the U.S. Sheetfed Coated v2 tag) in InDesign and design.
Printing Steps from Indesign CS to the Epson 4000 (VisCom_RIP):
File> Print
Be sure VisCom_RIP is the printer showing.
In Setup, choose Super A3_B (very close to 13x19) or set up a Custom paper size of 13x19 inches (78p0 x114p0).
In Setup, click the desired Page Position (it seems to default to Upper Left instead of Centered).
In Marks and Bleed, turn on Crop Marks if desired. These will help you trim the document if you wish.
In Output, choose Composite CMYK for Color.
In Graphics, Images>Send Data choose All. Optimized Subsampling means InDesign will downsample your pictures and lower resolution.
In Color Management, Source Space should be set to Document, Print Space should be set to Document CMYK - U.S. Sheetfed Coated v2
