Shoot the Moon
I understand that this hydroblade move on an inside edge is called "Shoot the Moon" or sometimes called the "Glide of Death "from a discussion on http://www.skatingforums.com. I assume that it requires strong legs and knees to do it.
The following series of pictures was taken at our January 2006 competition at Bird Arena in Athens, Ohio. The skater enters the move on a right inside edge in a position similar to a forward crossover.
1. He's
starting to get his legs into position while gliding on a right inside
edge.
|
2. The left arm
trails and contacts the ice for balance. The right leg is inside.

3. Into a low
"shoot the moon" position and gliding...
|
4. Rising from
the "shoot the moon" position.
