One method to block windows in a film darkroom
I have used fiberglass building insulation panels and a hot melt glue gun to fabricated light-blocking frames for windows in a darkroom. If made well, they pop in and out easily.
Here are some photos showing how they are placed over a window and how they are constructed. I found that the non-foil versions are slightly translucent and need a few coats of paint before they are suitable. The foil is unsightly and will probably need paint to be acceptable anyway.
This insulation comes in 4' x 8' sheets, so be prepared at the store to cut them down to fit into a small vehicle. A knife will do. Box cutters might be too short to go clear through the material.
Here is a picture of the window in a darkroom - not too dark!
